What is a Men’s T-shirt Size Chart?
T-shirts like any other clothing have a size chart that will assist you in finding the best t-shirt fit for your body. A men’s t-shirt size chart will have the measurements of the upper body such as chest, shoulders, sleeve and length, and it will help you understand how each section’s measurement changes with respect to others.
A well-structured t-shirt size chart will include the different body types and suggest a fit based on the standard t-shirt size chart. But the size chart for t-shirts or any clothing will change depending on the country and the brand. When buying t-shirts, it is best to refer to the brand’s size chart to prevent disappointments.
Have you had enough of buying t-shirts online only to find that they are not your size or don’t fit you perfectly? We’re sorry and we know how frustrating that is. What if we say you can get a custom-fit t-shirt tailored just for you? With Hungover, you can get a custom-fit t-shirt without even stepping out of your home. Why Do You Need a T-shirt Size Chart?
Imagine you are surfing the web to buy T-shirts and have found the one you’ve been looking for. Now, will you buy the T-shirt? No, no one would. You’d need to select a size and like we said before not every brand follows the same standards when it comes to size.
Sizing conventions also differ between countries, therefore a size chart designed based on a country’s standard size will help users make informed decisions and prevent returns or unnecessary worries about the fit.
Thinking from a brand’s perspective, a t-shirt size chart will help in maintaining consistency in manufacturing products by adhering to the standard size. Brands need to follow a standard size chart or a bad reputation is inevitable.
How to Measure a T-shirt Size?
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to measure a T-shirt perfectly:
1. Place one of your T-shirts - preferably a well-fitted one - on a smooth surface, ensuring that it lies flat and is not stretched or wrinkled. You can also follow the steps below and measure your body directly.
If you're referring to a size chart mentioned on a website then use the unit of measurement (inches or cm) that they mention
2. Measure the chest size, leaving an inch just below the underarms. Measure from one side seam to the other, ensuring the measuring tape is straight and parallel to the ground. Double this measurement to get the full chest width. If measuring your body, take some help and measure using the tape, running it across your chest size.
3. Measure from the shoulder seam on one side to the shoulder seam on the opposite side. Make sure the tape is straight and not stretched. When measuring your shoulder, stand straight.
4. Measure from the shoulder seam down the outer edge of the sleeve to the hem. This measurement indicates the sleeve length. If the T-shirt has a set-in sleeve, measure from the shoulder seam to the end of the sleeve. For sleeve length, it's ideal to consider your t-shirt's sleeves as they have a standard size.
5. Next, to measure the t-shirt length, turn the tee over, start from the highest point of the shoulder, and measure straight down to the hem to determine the length of the T-shirt. You can measure your body length from the centre of your neck at the back to your hips.
The t-shirt length is one of the important measurements as the ratio of the upper and lower body significantly varies from person to person.
Additional Tips:
1. Measure in inches or centimetres, depending on the unit of measurement provided on the size chart.
2. If you're between sizes, consider your personal preference for a looser or more fitted fit.
3. Double-check your measurements to ensure accuracy.
By following these steps and accurately measuring the T-shirt, you increase the likelihood of finding the right size and enjoying a comfortable and well-fitted garment.

Even if you get the measurements right there are some factors that you need to consider which will influence how the t-shirt looks on you. Keep in mind the following points before you buy men’s t-shirts online to ensure that it is truly the right fit for you:
1. Brand: With the rise of online shopping, there are numerous t-shirt brands selling men’s t-shirts online. It is important to choose the best Indian clothing brands that are known for their quality and trustability.

2. T-shirt Type: There are different types of men’s t-shirts available online from the Classic Crew Neck and Formal Polo to the Casual V-neck and the Aesthetic Henley. Decide the type of T-shirt and choose the fit you prefer. The Polo and Henley tees are preferred to be worn as tailored fits for a charismatic look, whereas the Crew Neck and V-neck can be worn as relaxed fits.
3. The Fit: Consider the purpose of the t-shirt and the occasions you’ll wear it to and choose the fit — slim, tailored or relaxed. If you prefer tucking in the t-shirt then pay attention to the length and select the size accordingly.
Read our style guide for different types of t-shirts.
4. Shrinkage: T-shirts are prone to shrinkage based on the fabric they are made of. There are different types of t-shirt fabrics of which some shrink and some do not. Some brands sell pre-shrunk t-shirts which shrink only 2-4% compared to the average 20%.
This is the reason why most brands suggest customers buy one size bigger than their usual size.
5. Wash Care: The way to keep a t-shirt as good as new is by washing it as it should be. Read and follow the wash care instructions as some may require specific care.
